Still Budgeting, Still Building

It’s been a while since our last update, so I wanted to share where things stand with Budgetwise.

From the beginning, Budgetwise has been a passion project. Alonso and I are both money nerds. We enjoy managing our finances and building tools to help with that. Working on Budgetwise has taught me a lot. At one point, it even helped me land a full-time job.

I’ve always worked on it in my spare time: nights, weekends, and holidays. But things changed last year when I lost my job. Since then, my focus has been on finding full-time work and offering my services as a contractor.

Even so, Budgetwise has never really left my mind. I’ve been tinkering with a shared engine for both the web and mobile app. I even made parts of it open source. Every now and then, someone messages me on Reddit or Discord asking about the project. That always lifts my spirits.

What’s Next

We want to keep moving forward. Budgetwise was previously funded through subscriptions, but we’re exploring a new way for people to support the project before it’s officially re-launched.

Here’s how it will work:

  • A $36 donation will count as a 1-year subscription, and you’ll lock in the $3/month price, even after the full release.
  • If you donate at least $3, you’ll still lock in the $3/month price going forward.

This is totally optional. I’ll keep working on the project in my spare time no matter what. But early support will help shape the roadmap and speed up progress.

If we hit our initial goal, I’ll begin sharing bi-weekly updates and demos to keep you in the loop.

Thanks to everyone who’s followed along. Your support means a lot.
